Summary
My kids were so excited about going to Disney but Frontier made our dream vacation an expense nightmare because of the sudden changes that they made with their schedules that would result to very expensive rebooking fees, or driving for hours (imagine the other expenses that goes with it - gas and parking!) to fly from other airports!
Full Fright
I booked a "special" rate flight on Frontier Airlines on January 11, 2013 for travel on May 22-31, 2013. The flight made travel from Columbia, MO to Orlando, FL a dream vacation for my kids. They were so excited about going to Disney. I pre-paid for Disney hotels which are non-refundable. On February 10, 2013, Frontier announces it will expand service dates from 2 to 3 days a week. On Feb 17, 2013, Frontier cancels all service from Columbia, MO effective May 13 (9 days before my travel was to begin). It will offer a refund or waive the "change fee" to rebook the flight from an alternate city. My cost to rebook is an additional $2100 from Kansas City or $2264 from St. Louis. Additional costs of flying from either of these airports in 2 1/2 hours drive time and gas ($78 - Suburban) and parking ($90 - $10/day) to fly from these other airports..
This airline made a dream trip into an expense nightmare/.
I will probable opt to drive to Florida'. I'm not sure I will enjoy the vacation now that my "dream vacation" has been crushed/. If we go, I will consider driving instead of paying this outrages fee to fly from on an airline that has no Customer Service".
It's heartbreaking to tell my kids we may not go to Florida?.
To make matters worse we were looking at flying from KC on Southwest for $200 more than what I had purchased these worthless tickets?. I wished we had just bucked up then and gone with a reputable airline instead of one who doesn't care. 3ba618
